Come learn about REST API Overview and Documentation Best Practices at this STC chapter meeting. Here are the objectives of this 1-hour presentation:
- Introduce REST APIs
- Present the characteristics of the REST API architectural style
- Discuss the pros and cons of REST API implementation
- Explain the format of an example REST API and demonstrate how to perform operations on a resource using the REST interface
- Show how Oracle is documenting REST APIs
About the presenters
Gururaj BS manages a global team of user assistance developers and technical communicators at Oracle, where he drives and leads Oracle Cloud User Assistance efforts for PaaS and IaaS products. These products have REST API interfaces. Gururaj also drives technical documentation initiatives for Oracle Cloud Operations teams. He has been instrumental in defining documentation processes, guidelines, and standards for Oracle Cloud operational policies, standard operating procedures, and DevOps procedures.
Gururaj has presented at several conferences, including tcworld (Germany), tcworld India, China Association for Standards (CAS), STC India, and so on. Gururaj was President of the India chapter of STC in the year 2006. He contributed to the chapter in various capacities for several years.
Marta Rauch works in a development team at Oracle, where she architects and leads mobile, cloud, and REST API projects. She participates on a team that provides input to corporate REST API standards and develops a new REST API interface.
Marta is an STC Associate Fellow, a member of the Nominating Committee, and VP of the Silicon Valley chapter. She reviews Summit proposals and judges International Summit Awards. Marta graduated from Stanford University and earned a certificate from the University of California Extension.
