Job Duration: 6 month contract
Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compose software technical documentation for internal and external use
  • Follow company specifications for grammar, format, and delivery
  • Research, write, and edit documentation for user manuals, release notes, installation guides and online help
  • Create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publications
  • Conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation
  • Research and translate technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users
  • Document engineering processes and specifications
  • Produce deliverables that conform to the company’s documentation and quality assurance standards

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Work with the following documentation development software: FrameMaker, Snagit, Webworks, Perforce, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint
  • Understand how FrameMaker source files are translated into HTML files via WebWorks
  • Work on-site to access internal network
  • Install and run Lattice Radiant software to determine new features that need to be documented
  • Research new features using such resources as specifications and with interviews with engineers
  • Attend meetings on-site or remotely
  • Provide weekly, and in some cases, daily progress reports

EXPERIENCE

  • Entry level position with degree or 3+ years working in technical writing without degree
  • Strong working knowledge of FrameMaker and WebWorks or other Help Compiler/Authoring program required
  • Strong aptitude in software, semiconductors, electronics, or computer-aided engineering highly desirable
  • Experience in both UNIX and Windows environments required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with multiple groups
  • Must be detail oriented with strong customer service skills
  • High level of PC skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Experience with HTML a plus
  • Familiarity with EDA software

EDUCATION/SKILLS

  • BA English, Journalism, Communications or a technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Certificate in Technical Writing a plus
