This month, we are pleased to present STC-SV’s first webinar, featuring STC Fellow MaryKay Grueneberg. Joining us from STC Chicago, MK will discuss the unique challenges and opportunities of working on a remote team.
It doesn’t matter if your team members are in the next room, 400 miles away, or 4,000 miles away; good communication flow is an essential key for the success of your remote team. It’s also one of the biggest challenges of global and remote teams. Whether you are a manager or a member of a team with remote colleagues, you want the team to be productive, quality-focused, and happy.
In this session, we will tackle the challenge of good communication flow from three points of view. We will first look at techniques and tips to help managers create a cohesive team and overcome the issues related to remote and global teams. Then, we will look at tips to help the remote employee not only survive being apart from the team, but to thrive. Finally, we will explore the responsibilities of every team member in keeping the communication flowing.
How Will The Webinar Work?
You won’t need to come to this meeting in person at our usual spot. Instead we’ll be using GoToMeeting, an online web conferencing tool, to broadcast MK’s talk to a shared meeting space online. You should be able to access the room using any internet-enabled PC or mobile device, so long as it has a relatively modern web browser installed.
Click here to access the meeting space. You’ll be prompted to allow a small download, which launches the GoToMeeting viewer. This file is only used for this purpose, and will automatically delete itself once finished. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM PST. If you have a mic, you’ll be able to chip in comments or questions via audio – if you don’t, just type into the chat pane.
For this first run, we ask you to please observe the speaker’s time and flow, and save your major questions until after the talk has concluded.
Presentation time: 7:00-8:00pm PST
